It has been a long slog but we have jumped through all the hoops and over all the hurdles thrown at us. At long last we have been before the Social Services Panel on the 18th August 2015 and are now approved as an After School facility with the South Eastern Trust Early Years Service.
We are registered for up to 30 children aged 4 to 12 for after school, breakfast club and all holiday periods.
The last requirement we had to fulfil was the fitting of finger guards to the doors and they are being fitted by HS&CH in the next few days. The temporary panel segregating the car park and the outdoor play area will be replaced by a gate in the coming weeks. Thank you to the HS&CH Directors for their support accommodating all of the requirements we had in order to comply with Social Services.
The finger guards for the doors are a sensible requirement as I have witnessed the devastation a door can cause to a child’s finger which we all know will find themselves where they shouldn’t be! Now we are ahead of the pack with regard to all health and safety requirements with our lovely new purpose-built facility.
Our first Club day will be Thursday 27th August 2015 the first day of the new school term.
We look forward to meeting our new starts in advance of their first day for an induction session so that they can get to know us before the start of term. This is particularly important for the new P1 starts who are undergoing a lot of adjustments all at once. We encourage parents to spend time with their child at, at least one induction session. We want the children to be confident with who will be picking them up from school, by being introduced to our staff before term starts. It also helps our staff collect the correct children if they know who the are. We wouldn’t want to miss someone or take someone elses child!
